Conflict: Denied Ops (Xbox 360)
Conflict: Denied Ops are a coming FPS to Xbox 360. The game can remind us a little bit about Call of Duty 4 but it won’t come close to it though. The main hook in Denied Ops seems to be character switching; each level employs a two-man squad, with a sniper and a heavy gunner whom you can switch between on the fly as the situation warrants. If you go in small places it is best to be a gunner but a open wide spaces you should really go for the sniper. You can also upgrade you weapons with different parts or simply get new weapons.
The squad commander role is not as easy as you think you will probably have problems getting the characters to do what you want. The game will probably be out this month and I really hope they manage to fix some bugs first. It can be very hard to aim because the buttons are so sensitive even if you just press them a little bit you will turn around 360 degree’s. The game got some promising features also like a good story and great graphics overall. I will be very excited to see how this game will do when it hits the open market.
One of the most popular video game of all times would be Halo 3 which is a part of the Halo series and the sequel to Halo 2 and it was designed particularly for the Xbox 360 gaming console. In fact in the very first day when it was launched, Halo 3 managed to garner a whopping amount of around US$ 170 million within a period of twenty four hours. For this certain amount of credit should also be reserved for the marketing professionals who conceptualized certain techniques like excerpts from the original game in order to saturate enormous hype prior to its release. Halo 3 has been rated highly by all the premier publications like Metacritic, GameSpy, IGN etc.
This story of this first person shooter game revolves around the interplanetary conflict between the alien species known as the Covenants and the mortals headed by the United Nations Space command. The setting is the 26th century and the purpose of the game is to protect the Earth from the aliens. The player assumes the role of the Master Chief who is ably assisted by Mariners and also a group known as Covenant Elites who in their turn are lead by the Arbiter.
There are several innovations with reference to the weapons used in Halo 3 when compared against its predecessors. These include ‘support weapons’ like flamethrowers and machine gun turrets. There were also certain other arms used which have definite functions like the Radar Jammer which is used to obstruct the enemy’s power of vision, Trip Mines and Power Drainers for causing harm or even killing. The various vehicles which constitute the game are also technically superior and some are A-I controlled while majority can be operated by the player himself. There is also a concept called the ‘meta-game’ in which the players earn points by overcoming their opposition with the swift use of strategy and physical strength and the more novel the means, the more points he scores.
Review of Call of Duty 2
Call of Duty 2 is an immensely popular sequel to the widely acclaimed Call of Duty developed by Infinity Ward and has sold millions of copies world wide since its release in 2005 and is supported by the Xbox 360 variants. For Xbox 360 versions, a maximum of eight players can play the game. In fact statistics reveal that it was the Xbox 360 version which has recorded maximum sales.
This is a first person shooter game set in the backdrop of the Second World War and comprises of three campaigns. The game functions with the player who has to assume the character of the soldier of the British Army, the Red Army and the United States army while the Second World War is on and it is his duty to withstand all hardships and try and attain victory in the face of constant and formidable oppositions. It is a test of one’s strategy, intelligence and tactics as the player has very few options when it comes to the variety of weapons he can use to protect himself. There are grenades, explosives, machine gins and cannons and the player is always in the verge of life threatening situations when death is at hand’s distance. Moreover, the Call of Duty Radiant which was released later contains several mapping systems. There are various kinds of game modes included in this version which comprise of Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, Search and Destroy, Headquarters and Capture the Flag.
The entire game is divided into three main parts and each art recounts a different anecdote. In the first part named Eastern Front, the player is a Red army soldier named Private Vasili Ivanovich Koslov, in the North African endeavor, he is Sergeant John Davis, a British soldier while in the Battle of Normandy he is Corporal Bill Taylor and the game concludes with the final crossing of the Rhine river.
On the negative side Call of Duty 2 has been critiqued for being unrealistic and also for its controversial advertisements.
